Abstract
Appealing to indirect methods in expressing affection is one of the authentic features of contemporary poems. Persona should be considered as one the best literary devices and a practical indirect method in contemporary poems. This technique emphasizes on objective correlative to show the inner feelings of the poet, in fact it plays as an intermediary between lyrical and the dramatic aspects of the poem. Therefore, the contemporary poet can pass personal and even ethnical border by employing artistic methods and poetical inspirations. This new literary device, in addition to setting a bridge between past, present and future, can penetrate into the depth of human nature. Siyyab, as a pioneer in his ode "Tamooze Jikoor" by wearing a persona on the mythical character of Tamooze and relying on the narrative dramatic aspects of persona, deals with expressing Iraqi's society and personal distress from Tamooze's view. This study relies on descriptive analytical methods, after examining the poetic persona in literature, deals with the manner of persona being used in "Tamooze Jikoor". An important point in Siyyab's dealing with the concept of persona in this particular ode is the reversal role of Tamooze's persona and falsifying the positive living to destruction. This shows the poet's high ability in using fable for expressing his contemporary experience
